Four generations of trust in the chemical industry.

NGB CHEMICALS SA is the South Africa division of the NGB Group — a chemical trading family business with roots going back to 1919. From a single trading office founded by Nuri Yılmaz in Türkiye, the group has grown into a respected supplier serving industries across two continents.

What has remained unchanged through the decades is our principle: fair pricing, honest dealing and uncompromising quality. Our South African operation extends that promise to customers across South Africa with a focused, agile team based in Durban.

  • Direct partnerships with global producers — no middlemen, no surprises.
  • Trading model that keeps prices competitive and transparent.
  • Full regulatory compliance for industrial and food-grade chemical handling.
  • Personal, responsive service from a small team that knows your business.

Turkish marble & travertine, supplied across South Africa.

NGB CHEMICALS SA supplies natural stone from Türkiye — one of the world's largest producers of marble and travertine — alongside our long-standing chemical trading business. Fluted wall panels, floor and wall tiles, French pattern sets and crazy paving, in the thirty references below.

Sourced at origin

Our group has traded out of Türkiye since 1919 — the same country that quarries and processes the stone in this range. Buying where the blocks are cut keeps the chain short and the pricing honest, exactly as it works on the chemical side of our business.

Cut to your specification

Every reference can be produced in other formats. Tiles are available in alternative sizes and thicknesses, honed, polished, brushed, tumbled or left unfilled, with straight or chamfered edges — and matched across a project so the batches read as one floor.

Delivered, not just shipped

Stone is crated on timber pallets, strapped and container-loaded for the voyage to Durban. From there it moves on the same inclusive, nationwide delivery terms we already offer our chemical customers across South Africa.

Reference numbers are our stock codes. Colour and veining vary naturally from block to block — the photographs show representative pieces. Other sizes, thicknesses and finishes are available on request.

Reading a stone specification.

Natural stone is described by how the block is sawn and how the surface is then finished. These are the terms used on the references above.

Cross Cut

The block is sawn across the bedding plane, opening up a cloudy, flower-like figure — also called fleuri. The pattern is varied and has no direction, so tiles can be laid either way round.

Vein Cut

The block is sawn along the bedding plane, so the layers read as straight parallel bands. Known as striato, it gives a calmer, more contemporary and strongly directional surface.

Honed & Filled (HF)

The natural voids in travertine are filled with resin or cement, then the face is ground to a soft, low-sheen matt. The standard specification for interior floors and wet areas.

Unfilled

The voids are left open for a textured, rustic face with more grip underfoot. Commonly chosen for external paving, pool surrounds and wall cladding.

Polished

Ground and buffed to a reflective gloss. Polishing deepens the colour and pulls out the veining, and suits interior floors, feature walls and vanity tops.

Antique / Tumbled

Tumbled in drums until the faces soften and the edges round off, so the tile arrives already looking worn in. Popular for courtyards, garden paths and heritage work.

French (Versailles) Pattern Set

Four tile sizes that repeat together as a single module, so the joints never line up across a large floor. Supplied as a matched set rather than by individual size.

Crazy Paving

Irregular broken pieces laid to a random jigsaw and pointed with a mortar joint. A traditional, hard-wearing finish for patios, pool decks and garden paths.

Thickness & format

12 mm and 20 mm are the standard thicknesses here — 12 mm for interior floors and cladding, 20 mm for external paving and heavier traffic. Free-length strips are cut to a fixed width with random lengths.
